Reading Reform Foundation History

Reading Reform Foundation of New York (at the time called The Reading Reform Foundation, New York Metropolitan Area Chapter) became a legally recognized not-for-profit organization in 1981.  

From its beginnings in temporary offices in the homes of two trustees and no full-time staff, Reading Reform Foundation of New York has become an organization with a suite of offices in New York City, a full-time staff of 5, and a part-time staff of 25 training consultants who work in public school classrooms twice a week all the academic year.

As Reading Reform Foundation has become larger, it has grown in influence.  It has attracted nationally known educational experts as speakers and well-known and respected conference workshop presenters. 

Reading Reform Foundation Beliefs

Reading Reform Foundation of New York has adhered to its original mission:  to influence and to encourage teachers of both children and adults to teach reading, writing and spelling by using phonics methods that employ multisensory techniques of teaching.

Reading Reform Foundation's excellent courses and training impart to teachers the excitement of learning that most of the English language is predictable and logical if one understands the phonetic basis of the language and its approximately two dozen spelling rules.
