What is phonics?

Phonics teaches that the 26 letters of the alphabet and groups of letters represent the 44 basic sounds of English.  These sounds are then blended into words. Phonics is a tool for learning and mastering the written language.

87% of English words are phonetic; each of them follows predictable rules for reading and spelling.

Once the students have mastered the sounds they can figure out word for themselves, giving them a sense of control and autonomy.

Phonics is the basis for a total developmental process that leads to greater comprehension.
